Biography
Shigeto Asano is the founder of Rafting Team Teikei, the world's only professional raft racing team, and boasts over 35 years of active involvement in the industry. Starting as an Australian river guide in 1993, he has since rafted over 70 rivers across 30 countries and secured 4 World Rafting Champion titles. Born in South Africa, holding Japanese nationality, and currently residing in New Zealand, Shigeto recently retired as Team Teikei's manager to focus on his role within the United Rafting Board. Bilingual in Japanese and English, he envisions the next four years as an opportunity to share the beauty of rivers, bringing people together through events that awaken the true spirit of adventure and connection with nature.
