Sport Department
The Sport Department is the operational and consultative body responsible for the coordination and development of United Rafting sporting activities. It operates under the authority of the General Board and is headed by the Sport Department Director, appointed by the General Board in accordance with the Statutes.
The Department coordinates the development and consistent implementation of competition rules and formats, contributes to the preparation of the international and continental competition calendar, and oversees matters concerning athlete health, safety, safeguarding, anti-doping education and the development of Technical Officials.
Within the Sport Department, the Statutes establish two permanent Commissions:
- the Athletes’ Commission, which represents the voice and interests of active athletes within United Rafting and contributes to decisions affecting the athlete community;
- the Officials’ Commission, responsible for matters relating to International Technical Officials (ITOs), including the development of officiating standards, education, recruitment and the consistent application of competition rules.
The Sport Department Director works in coordination with these Commissions, the Secretary General and the competent governing bodies of United Rafting in implementing the Federation’s sporting and technical programmes.
A Technical Commission has been established to support the Sport Director in the coordination and development of United Rafting’s sporting activities, providing technical expertise and assistance in the implementation of the Federation’s competition rules, programmes and operational priorities.
