Gates in Rio Trancura for the second day of competition at the WRF Panamerican Rafting Championships 2024 - where the rain didn’t stop the enthusiasm of 280 rafters from giving everything in the two runs of Slalom.


Men category is still in the hands of Brazil 1. Saulo Quieroz, Angelo Degrandi, Paulo Righeto Scantimburgo, Thiago Diniz Barne Ganeo and Lucas Da Silva take the gold with an incredible clean run: 04:44.077, best overall time. Colombia 1 follows with a 2 seconds penalty stopping the chrono at 04:58.033. Bronze medal back to Brazil 2 with 05:03.639.

Chile 1 defends the first step of the podium in the Women category: gold to Paloma Molina, Yarela Munoz, Nicole Plagemann, Camila Ortega Lancafilo, Nazareth Zapata, Fernanda Andrea Fuentes Ramirez and Javiera Alfaro with 06:10.750, no touch. Argentina 1 takes home the second place with 06:40.690. One missing gate leads Canada 1 to the third position with 06:55.490.

 

In Para-Rafting's category Brazil 1 (Ariel Ton, Paulo Righeto Scantimburgo, Thiago Diniz Barne Ganeo, Rafael Mahn Iori and Francisco Kess) took the gold with an impressive total time of 05:58.243, followed closely by Colombia 1 (07:27.389) and Chile 1 (08:28.749).


The Mixed cateogry saw another Brazilian victory, with Brazil 1 (Nathalia Dos Santos, Angelo E. Degrandi, Amanda Nicoleti, Lucas Da Silva and Caroline de Souza) clocking in with a total of 05:19.156, followed by Argentina 1 (05:40.550) in second place and Canada 2 in third (05:48.123).

But fellow rafters the competition isn't over yet! Tomorrow's RX race, carrying the highest points, could flip the standings and bring more surprises.
