Athletes are at the heart of United Rafting.
From grassroots participation to international competition, United Rafting works to create an environment in which athletes can develop, compete safely and fairly, and represent their teams and National Federations at the highest level.
United Rafting is committed to equal opportunities for women and men across all disciplines and to protecting athlete health, safety, welfare and integrity. Athletes also have a direct voice within the Federation through the Athletes’ Commission, whose Chair serves on the United Rafting General Board.
Athlete Licence
A valid United Rafting Athlete Licence identifies an athlete within the international sporting system and provides the eligibility framework for participation in United Rafting competitions, subject to the requirements applicable to each event.
Athlete licences are managed through the United Rafting online platform and are connected to the athlete’s profile and National Federation.
The licence system also provides United Rafting with a consistent international athlete record, supporting competition management, results, rankings and the development of the sport.

Competition Categories
United Rafting competitions are structured into age and competition categories established by the applicable Sport Rules and the regulations of each event.
Categories allow athletes to compete within an appropriate sporting framework throughout their development, from youth competition to senior international racing.
For each competition, athletes should consult the relevant Event Bulletin and current Sport Rules for the categories offered, eligibility requirements and any event-specific provisions.
Our Values
Fair Play
Competition starts with respect: for teammates, opponents, officials, organisers and the rules of the sport. United Rafting promotes integrity, fairness and sportsmanship at every level of competition.
Clean Sport
United Rafting is committed to doping-free sport and applies its Anti-Doping Rules in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code. Every athlete has a responsibility to understand the rules that apply to them and to protect the integrity of competition.
Equality
Women and men must have equal opportunities to participate across United Rafting disciplines. This principle extends to competition opportunities, prizes and prize money.
Safety & Welfare
Athlete health, safety, welfare and safeguarding are integral to the way rafting competitions are developed and managed. These principles guide sporting regulations, event organisation and the work of the Sport Department.
Respect for Rivers
Rafting depends on rivers and the environments surrounding them. Athletes are part of United Rafting’s commitment to protecting rivers and ecosystems and to promoting responsible sporting activity in natural environments.
Athletes’ Voice
Athletes are represented directly within United Rafting through the Athletes’ Commission.
The Commission is the official voice of the athlete community and provides structured input on policies and decisions affecting athletes. Its members are elected by eligible athletes, and the Chair of the Commission serves as a member of the United Rafting General Board.
