International Technical Officials (ITOs) are an essential part of every United Rafting competition. Their knowledge, independence and professionalism ensure that competitions are conducted fairly, consistently and in accordance with the United Rafting Sport Rules.

From local and national events to Continental Championships and World Championships, officials contribute to the quality and integrity of the sport and help provide athletes and teams with a professional competition environment.

Become a United Rafting Official

United Rafting promotes the recruitment, education, training and certification of Technical Officials, including judges and referees, through the Sport Department and its dedicated technical structures.

The pathway is designed to develop the knowledge and practical experience required to officiate at different levels of competition and to create consistent standards across the international rafting community.

Officials can progress through training, practical experience and international events, continuing to develop their skills throughout their officiating career.

Officials at International Events

United Rafting Technical Officials work alongside event organisers and competition management to ensure the correct application of the Sport Rules and the consistent delivery of competitions.

Depending on their qualification and appointment, officials may perform different technical and competition roles during an event.

International appointments provide opportunities to gain experience, work with officials from different countries and contribute directly to the development of international rafting.
