A life on rivers around the world.

Shigeto began working as a river guide in Australia in 1993. Since then, he has rafted more than 70 rivers across 30 countries, combining international exploration with a career in competitive rafting.

Born in South Africa, a Japanese national and now based in New Zealand, he speaks Japanese and English. He recently retired as Team Teikei’s manager to focus on his role within the United Rafting Board.

Sharing the adventure.

Shigeto sees the next four years as an opportunity to share the beauty of rivers and bring people together through rafting. His vision centres on events that encourage adventure and connection with nature, allowing participants to experience the rivers and places that give the sport its character.
