In recent months, the area of Patagonia initially selected to host the 2025 WRF Senior World Rafting Championships has been severely affected by devastating wildfires. In particular, the region of El Bolsón in Argentine Patagonia has suffered extensive damage, with hundreds of homes and businesses destroyed.
To respond to the emergency, the regional government has activated an emergency task force and introduced economic relief measures for the affected population, supported by the Federal Public Service Council Fund (CoFeFup).
In light of the complex and challenging emergency situation, the Local Organizing Committee - after close consultation with local authorities and the Argentine Canoe Federation - submitted a formal request to change the host valley for the event. The contingency plan presented by the Committee was carefully reviewed by the WRF Sport Department.
The World Rafting Federation, in agreement with the Local Organizing Committee and regional authorities, has acknowledged both the significant damage caused by the fires and the extraordinary efforts made by the organizers to ensure the success of the World Championships. Therefore, the WRF has approved the relocation of the event to a new location within Patagonia.
The 2025 Senior World Rafting Championships will now take place on the originally scheduled dates (3-9 November 2025) in Aluminé, Neuquén Province, Patagonia, Argentina.

The WRF expresses its deep gratitude to the Local Organizing Committee for managing this situation with professionalism and responsibility.
Furthermore, during the event, the WRF will implement dedicated environmental initiatives to support the areas impacted by the fires.
