The wild waters of the Canal de Aguas Bravas in Fraga were roaring this weekend, as the town hosted a high-energy double feature: the 1st Aragón Cup of Slalom and the 2nd edition of the Open Rafting Sprint. With the sun shining on the Bajo Baix Cinca region, it was a full-on celebration of sport, nature, and community spirit.
While the morning slalom session brought technical brilliance from top paddlers across Aragón, the afternoon was all about speed, splash, and surprise in the Open Rafting Sprint—a competition that’s growing fast in popularity and impact.
The big winners? Team Pacha Mama, wearing the bib 104 and representing Club Murillo de Gállego, took the top spot with power and precision, confirming their rising status in Spain’s rafting scene. Close behind were Los Joses (Colugo) from Monkayak (101), who showed raw pace and tight teamwork. In third came the local heroes Cinca Flow (103), proudly representing Caiac Baix Cinca. Just off the podium in fourth were their clubmates from QMEC (102), rounding out a strong showing for the host team.
This event wasn’t just about competition—it was about connection. The Open format welcomed non-federated paddlers, families, and local groups, turning the whitewater into a playground for all. From seasoned rafters to first-time floaters, the energy was contagious.
Organized by the Federación Aragonesa de Piragüismo and Club Caiac Baix Cinca, with the support of the Government of Aragón, the Diputación of Huesca, and Huesca La Magia, the day was a showcase of how grassroots sport and natural settings can create something truly magical.
As rafting gains momentum in Spain, Fraga is proving it’s not just riding the wave—it’s leading it. With summer just getting started, expect more splashes, more stories, and more surprises from the growing Spanish rafting scene.
