The 2025 World Rafting Championships officially opened today in Aluminé, Argentina, with an emotional and vibrant ceremony celebrating sport, nature, and cultural heritage.
A total of 280 athletes from 24 nations paraded proudly, celebrating the opening with traditional music, singing, and local dances, bringing color and energy to the riverside town.

WRF President Danilo Barmaz welcomed athletes, officials, and spectators, highlighting the natural beauty surrounding the event. “This place of unspoiled nature reminds us that we, paddling and flowing with the water, are the protectors of the river,” Barmaz stated, reinforcing the deep connection between rafting and environmental stewardship.

Also attending were Diego Victoria, Mayor of Aluminé, and the President of the Federación Argentina de Rafting Martin Martinez, both expressing pride in hosting such a prestigious global competition and welcoming the international river community to Patagonia.
With the Championships now officially open, the excitement really begins. Tomorrow marks the start of training sessions, as teams begin to discover the waters of the Rio Aluminé, set to become the stage for thrilling competition in the days ahead.
