The Austrian rafting season kicked off in spectacular fashion on May 2nd in Wildalpen, where the first round of the 2026 Austrian Rafting Championships delivered exciting action on the Salza River under perfect conditions.
Four teams from three different Austrian regions competed in a full day of racing, showcasing high-level performances across all the disciplines. The standout team of the day was the Rafting Sport Salzatal squad, which claimed victory in all three races to secure an impressive overall win.

Rafting Sport Salzatal’s second team also delivered a strong performance, earning an excellent second place and confirming the club’s strength at national level. Third place for Raftingverband OÖ and fourth place for Wasserrettung Tirol.
Organizers thanked all participating teams for the fair and competitive races, as well as the many volunteers and spectators whose support created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the event.
Following the successful opening race in Wildalpen, attention now turns to the next major challenge: the European Rafting Championships, which will take place in Banja Luka at the end of May. The Austrian team heads into the continental event with confidence after its dominant start to the season and hopes to carry this momentum onto the European stage.
The Austrian championships will continue on June 6th during the Sport Austria finals in Vienna.
