We proudly highlights one of the most important development projects for the future of rafting sport: inter-school rafting competitions. These events play a fundamental role in introducing rafting to young athletes at an early age, creating opportunities for children to experience teamwork, outdoor adventure, and competitive sport in a safe and supportive environment.

Organized in Türkiye between May 7–9, 2026, the Inter-School Rafting Competitions have already demonstrated the growing enthusiasm for rafting among young people. The first day of competition has been successfully completed, bringing together an impressive 57 teams and 320 athletes from schools across the country.

The event allows young participants under the age of 14 to discover rafting alongside their classmates and friends, competing on safe and suitable waters specifically selected for youth development. Beyond competition, the project promotes friendship, discipline, confidence, and a strong connection with nature - values that are at the heart of rafting worldwide.

The opening sprint races delivered exciting performances across the different categories. In the boys’ division, Güneysu Spor Lisesi recorded the fastest time of the day with 42.80 seconds, while Espiye Ş. Cengiz Sarıbaş Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi led the girls’ competition with an impressive 45.94 seconds. In the mixed category, Güneysu Spor Lisesi once again secured first place, underlining the high technical level already visible at this year’s championship.

Türkiye continues to show strong leadership in youth rafting development and is becoming an excellent example of how national projects can help grow the sport from the grassroots level. The scale and organization of these competitions underline the country’s commitment to building a sustainable future for rafting.

Speaking about the importance of the initiative, Gürkan Köse - Türkiye Rafting General Coordinator, Vice President of the United Rafting Federation and Board Member - emphasized the long-term value of integrating rafting into both university and primary school sports programs:

“Personally, I place great importance on projects that encourage young people to engage with rafting and develop through sport from an early age. Inter-school competitions are not only about results; they are about building teamwork, confidence, discipline, and a connection with nature. These events are helping create the next generation of athletes and strengthening the future of rafting both in Türkiye and internationally.”

The rafting community congratulates all organizers, schools, coaches, volunteers, and young athletes involved in this outstanding event and looks forward to seeing the continued growth of youth rafting in Türkiye and around the world!
