The wild waters of the Paiva River are about to get even more exciting with the 4th edition of the Arouca Rafting Summit from January 24th to 28th. This event aims to showcase and celebrate white-water activities, especially rafting on the Paiva River, with a mix of thrilling experiences.
The event starts with an inclusive rafting session: "Rafting for All," organized for people with visual impairments. Another activity, "Rafting x Future," involves 12th-grade students from Arouca and Escariz schools, offering them a chance to experience and learn about rafting on the renowned Paiva River.
Focal point of the event will be the "Portuguese Rafting Cup - Open," organized by the Portuguese Canoe Federation and set for January 27th. Athletes can register at www.fpcanoagem.pt.
During the summit an another highlight is the "Mountain Heli-Rescue" seminar and rescue simulation on January 26th. This event is for professionals from tourist companies, sports clubs, and security forces. It includes representatives from the Portuguese Air Force and the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
The event concludes on January 28th with a promotional rafting session open to public and private entities involved in tourism.
The Paiva River is considered one of Europe's best white-water tracks. With the Arouca Rafting Summit, the organization wants to showcase the potential of the natural heritage, especially in winter, offering memorable experiences for both visitors and locals, including young people trying rafting for the first time during this event - says Margarida Belém, the Mayor of Arouca.
The Arouca Rafting Summit is organized by the Municipality of Arouca in collaboration with the Portuguese Canoe Federation, Clube do Paiva, Just Come, LusoRafting, NaTour Way, and AGA - Arouca Geopark Association. Support comes from the Canoeing and White-Water Club of Portugal, the Alvarenga Parish Council, and the Union of Canelas and Espiunca Parishes.
